La Crosse falls to Wisconsin in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Wisconsin Whalers' Peter Henderson scored 25 seconds into overtime to beat the La Crosse Freeze, 4-3 (OT).

Although Wisconsin was up by as many as two goals in the third period, La Crosse kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Freeze pulled to within 3-2 on a short handed goal by Daniel Toycen at 8:22 in the third period.

The Whalers were led by Henderson, who racked up one goal.

Wisconsin's offense rang up 34 shots on La Crosse's net.

Wisconsin also got points from Thomas Hanson, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Wisconsin also had goals scored by Adam Alcott and Adam Schoenfeld, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wisconsin were Will Holtan, Caleb Voster, Alex Anderson, Michael Tish, Yves Leemann, and Nolan Kepler, who contributed one each.

The Freeze forced the Whalers goalie Evan Moyse to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. La Crosse could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

La Crosse also got a goal from Taylor Trapp as well. More assists for La Crosse came via Hunter Dragosh, who had two and Jared Bromberg and Anthony Miller, who each chipped in one.

Moyse recorded 28 saves for Wisconsin. The Whalers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Freeze's Andrew Wagner stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. La Crosse registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
