Ulmer lifts West Michigan over Toledo, 4-1

Dakota Ulmer was all over the ice for the West Michigan Wolves, as he tallied two goals in West Michigan's 4-1 win over the Toledo Cherokee.

Ulmer found the back of the net 52 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 West Michigan and again while short handed 9:43 into the first to make the score 2-0 West Michigan.

The Wolves were led by goalie Kyler Patenaude, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Patenaude will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.67.

West Michigan excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

West Michigan additionally got points from Michael Tratar, who also had one goal and one assist. West Michigan also got a goal from Tait Aptakin as well. More assists for West Michigan came via Corey Siwula, Kyle Keeder, and Devin Farkas, who each chipped in one.

Toledo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three West Michigan power plays. The Cherokee were held below their usual level of production. Toledo puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game.

The Cherokee were led by Nikolas Verbosky, who scored the team's only goal. Verbosky scored 9:39 into the second period to make the score 3-1 West Michigan. Michael Pisanti picked up the assist.

The Wolves incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Glen Bates made 22 saves for Toledo on 26 shots. The Cherokee incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
