Hovanec's goals lift Pittsburgh to 7-1 victory over Cleveland

Bryan Hovanec was all over the ice for the Pittsburgh Vengeance, as he tallied two goals in Pittsburgh's 7-1 win over the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks.

Hovanec's tallies came at 8:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh and on the power play 13:29 into the second to make the score 3-1 Pittsburgh.

The Vengeance were led by goalie Brian Baker, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Baker certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.15 entering the contest.

Pittsburgh pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

The Vengeance forced Cleveland goalie Sam Pikus to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Pittsburgh found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Vengeance have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Pittsburgh cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring four goals on seven chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Pittsburgh additionally got points from Nils Markgren, who also had one goal and two assists and Eli Lynn, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Brennan Conway also scored for Pittsburgh. In addition, Pittsburgh received assists from Gavin Cummings, who had two, Cody Black, who had three, and Brooks Antill, Gus Peponidis, Parker Henry, Christopher McCambridge, and Dominick Glavach, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Lumberjacks were led by Jonathan Dagnal, who scored the team's only goal. Dagnal scored on the power play 18:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Cleveland had gotten the advantage when the Vengeance's Hovanec was sent off for hooking. Tyler Dalton picked up the assist.

The Jr. Lumberjacks' Pikus stopped 25 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Cleveland incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
