Granite City wins tough contest against Breezy Point, 6-4

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Granite City Lumberjacks escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Breezy Point North Stars.

Granite City gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jared Sprink 16:21 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Lumberjacks kept Breezy Point's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jaxson Gosnell made 33 saves on 39 shots.

Granite City was led by Dallas Marvin, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Marvin scored 11:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Breezy Point. Luke Richardson picked up the assist. Granite City also got points from Michael Orke, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Granite City also had goals scored by Blake Phenow, Mitchell Gwost, and David Kenney, who scored one goal each. More assists for Granite City came via Tanner Skaja and Travis Kemp, who each chipped in one.

The North Stars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Breezy Point was led by Joe Costello, who racked up one goal and two assists. Costello scored 7:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Breezy Point. Brooke Evans assisted on the tally. Breezy Point additionally got points from Evans, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Breezy Point included Crosby Steen and Jordan Carey, who each put in one. In addition, Breezy Point received assists from Linder Kenyon, who had one and Ryan Herbert, who had two.

Jesse Garcia recorded 22 saves for the Lumberjacks. Granite City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The North Stars registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
