Miller's goals lift La Crosse to 4-1 victory over Southern Tier

Behind a great game by Anthony Miller, who had two goals, the La Crosse Freeze defeated the Southern Tier Xpress, 4-1.

Miller's tallies came at 1:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 La Crosse and on the power play 15:50 into the second to make the score 3-1 La Crosse.

La Crosse's penalty kill excelled, as the Freeze gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

La Crosse stifled Southern Tier's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Freeze's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as La Crosse finished with 24 penalty minutes.

La Crosse also got points from Hunter Smith, who also finished with one goal and one assist. La Crosse also got a goal from Justin Edwards as well. In addition, La Crosse received assists from Taylor Trapp, who had three and Hunter Dragosh and Brit Brothen, who each chipped in one.

The Xpress did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Southern Tier averages 3.6 goals per game. The Xpress could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Southern Tier was led by Brandon Desrosiers, who scored the team's only goal. Desrosiers scored 9:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Southern Tier. Elijah Williams provided the assist.

Andrew Wagner made 19 saves for the Freeze on 20 shots. La Crosse registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. The Xpress' Cody Gibson stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced.
