Toledo holds on for 2-1 win against Metro

The Metro Jets tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Toledo Cherokee held on for a 2-1 victory.

Toledo made the score 2-0 on a goal by David Bogart at 2:15 in the second period, and Metro got as close as 2-1 when Cooper McLean scored 13:40 into the third period.

The Cherokee's penalty kill excelled, as Toledo gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Cherokee stifled the Jets' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Toledo additionally got points from Cody Estrel, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were Cam Schwartz, who had one.

Metro's offense operated below its season average. The Jets put an average of 4.0 pucks into the net per game.

In addition, Metro received assists from Pearce Vance and Cody Jones, who each chipped in one.

Toledo's Glen Bates stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Cherokee totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Kameron Limburg rejected 27 shots on goal for Metro. The Jets ended with 36 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. Metro ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jason Newel was ejected from the game.
