Pelton leads Topeka to shutout victory over St. Louis

Jacob Pelton was superb between the pipes for the Topeka Capitals, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the St. Louis Jr. Blues.

Topeka was led by Kyle Rimbach, who had one goal. Rimbach scored 11:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Topeka.

The Capitals put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Louis to score on any of its four power plays. Topeka's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Jr. Blues. The Capitals gives up 2.9 goals on average per game. St. Louis was unable to stop Topeka from sending pucks towards the net, and the Capitals eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Topeka included Tre Kautzman, Mike Pedersen, and Alex Johanson, who each put in one. In addition, Topeka received assists from John Crusinberry, Igor Valko, Alex Sauer, and Steve MacIver, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Blues managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. St. Louis ended up below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Jr. Blues' offense operated below their season average. St. Louis averages 3.0 goals per game.

Pelton rejected 30 shots on goal for Topeka. The Capitals incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. William Hindle recorded 34 saves for the Jr. Blues.
