Point Mallard holds on for 5-4 win against Dallas

The Dallas Jr. Stars tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Point Mallard Ducks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-4.

Point Mallard made the score 5-3 on a goal by Grant Dukus at 13:30 in the third period, and Dallas got as close as 5-4 when Travis Hall scored 17:19 into the third period.

Dukus had two goals to lead the Ducks to victory.

The Jr. Stars were unable to stop Point Mallard from sending pucks towards the net, and the Ducks eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Point Mallard was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 28 penalty minutes.

Point Mallard additionally got points from Noah Gilreath, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Point Mallard included Chandler Brown and Brad Reitter, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Point Mallard were Justin Dunn, who had two and Jake Champaign, Jake Cox, Josh Hamilton, Killan Gray, Gabor Belenyesi, Justin Delisle, and Justin Clark, who contributed one each.

The defensemen of Dallas were also effective in the Ducks' zone, and came away with two goals.

Dallas also had goals scored by Josig Rochon and Aaron Torres, who each put in one. In addition, Dallas received assists from Kayne Fedor, who had two and Kody Wagner, Tyler Valentin, Blake McIntyre, and Axel Olson, who each chipped in one.

Point Mallard's Billy Wager stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Ducks registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Anthony Galliart recorded 31 saves for the Jr. Stars. Dallas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
