Gillette uses big second period to beat Glacier, 8-2

The Gillette Wild used a six-goal second period to put away Glacier, 8-2.

Gillette got the win thanks to a great game by Mitchell McEwan, who had one goal and two assists. McEwan scored 5:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gillette. Jack Cleaver picked up the assist.

The Wild excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Gillette surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Wild average 4.1 goals per game. Gillette got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Gillette also got points from Darren Banks, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Gillette included Trevor Ruiz and Sam Cirone, who scored two goals each and TJ McMinn and Alex King, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Gillette were Trent Dillinger, who had two and Bryce Mitzel, Taylor Garner, Cade Boreing, and Kyle Reilly, who each chipped in one.

Glacier was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 35 minutes in penalty time. Glacier surpassed its season average of 29.0 penalty minutes per game. Glacier kept the Wild's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alex Feese made 82 saves on 84 shots.

Gillette totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-10 on the power play. Nolan Slager rejected 17 shots on goal for Glacier.
