Helena's Mohar deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Yellowstone

The Helena Bighorns relied on the scoring touch of Matt Mohar, who netted two goals, to beat the Yellowstone Quake, 5-2.

Mohar's tallies came at 17:36 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Helena and 15:01 into the third to make the score 5-2 Helena.

Yellowstone was unable to stop Helena from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bighorns eventually piled up 52 shots on goal.

Helena additionally got points from Brandt Miller, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Helena included Nick Trefry and Johnny Bonta, who scored one goal each. In addition, Helena received assists from Bryan Knesel, who had one and Brandon Mills and Kendall Bolen-Porter, who contributed two each.

The Quake managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Yellowstone ended up below its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Quake were helped by Sean Pilet, who had one goal. Pilet scored on the power play 6:07 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Yellowstone. Yellowstone had gained a power play chance when Isaiah Sands was whistled for charging. Max Doner assisted on the tally. Yellowstone also got points from Sawyer Scanlan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Yellowstone were Zach Forrest and Mason Stewart, who each chipped in one.

Helena's Alex Kruger stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Bighorns incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Lance Knudson made 47 saves for the Quake on 52 shots. Yellowstone registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
