Dunn leads Point Mallard over Sugar Land, 6-1

The Point Mallard Ducks' Justin Dunn had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 6-1 win over the Sugar Land Imperials.

Dunn beat Colton Anderson with a shot 2:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Point Mallard. Justin Provencher provided the assist. Dunn dished an assist on Justin Delisle's goal that made the score 3-1 Point Mallard at 5:09 into the second period. He added another helper on Grant Dukus's goal that made the score 6-1 Point Mallard at 19:56 into the third period.

Point Mallard forced Sugar Land goalie Anderson to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. The defensemen of the Ducks were also effective in the Imperials' zone, and came away with two goals.

Point Mallard additionally got points from Josh Hamilton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Dukus, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Point Mallard included Noah Gilreath and Jake Champaign, who each put in one. More assists for Point Mallard came via Matt Goodman, who had two and Jake Cox and Jaleel Rosemond, who each chipped in one.

Sugar Land's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Point Mallard power plays. The Imperials' offense operated below their season average. Sugar Land puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game.

The Imperials were led by Donavan Meyer, who scored the team's only goal. Meyer scored on the power play 17:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Sugar Land had taken the advantage when Point Mallard's Champaign got sent off for checking from behind. Frank Muscarella picked up the assist.

Cooper Seedott rejected 21 shots on goal for the Ducks. Point Mallard incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Imperials' Anderson stopped 39 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Sugar Land incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
