La Crosse downs Wisconsin in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The La Crosse Freeze's Daniel Toycen scored 37 seconds into overtime to beat the Wisconsin Whalers, 6-5 (OT).

Toycen was all over the ice for La Crosse, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Toycen scored the first of his two goals at 3:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 La Crosse. Zach Lawson assisted on the tally. Toycen's next tally made the score 6-5 La Crosse with 19:23 left in overtime. Taylor Trapp provided the assist.

The Freeze found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. La Crosse averages 3.0 goals per game.

La Crosse additionally got points from Jared Bromberg, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Lawson, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. La Crosse also had goals scored by Jake Lipski and Anthony Miller, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for La Crosse were Hunter Dragosh and Augusts Veidenbaums, who contributed one each.

Wisconsin forced the Freeze goalie Nick Mizen to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Whalers were led by Nathan Viberg, who registered one goal and three assists. Viberg scored 19:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 La Crosse. Kaleb Morley picked up the assist. Wisconsin also got points from Peter Henderson, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Morley, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Wisconsin included Will Holtan and Dan Addie, who each put in one. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Connor Morgan, who had two and Caleb Voster and Adam Alcott, who each chipped in one.

La Crosse's Mizen stopped 29 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Freeze incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Chris Johansen rejected 16 shots on goal for Wisconsin. The Whalers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
