Billy Wager made 45 saves to complete the shutout and led the Point Mallard Ducks to a 4-0 win against the Topeka Capitals. Point Mallard was led by Chris Lepore, who registered one goal. Lepore scored on the power play 11:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Point Mallard. The Ducks had gotten the advantage when Topeka's John Crusinberry was sent off for slashing. Grant Dukus assisted on the tally. Point Mallard excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Point Mallard also had goals scored by Jake Champaign, Davis VanGemerden, and Matt Goodman, who each put in one. In addition, Point Mallard received assists from Brad Reitter and Justin Delisle, who contributed one each. The Capitals could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Topeka puts an average of 2.8 pucks into the net per game. The Ducks were unable to stop the Capitals from sending pucks towards the net, and Topeka eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. Point Mallard incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brett Malkmus rejected 23 shots on goal for the Capitals. Topeka incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
