The La Crosse Freeze relied on the sparkling performance of Andrew Wagner in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Chicago Junior Bulldogs.

La Crosse was led by goalie Wagner, who finished with 33 saves while allowing one goal. Wagner managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.55 prior to the game.

Chicago's power play was ineffective against the Freeze's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

La Crosse put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Junior Bulldogs to score on any of their six power plays. The Freeze forced Chicago goalie Troy Pierce to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

La Crosse was led by Taylor Trapp, who registered one goal and two assists. Trapp scored on the power play 19:06 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A tripping penalty on Henry Hearon had put the Freeze on the power play. Augusts Veidenbaums assisted on the tally. Others who scored for La Crosse included Austin Moser and Zach Lawson, who each put in one. More assists for La Crosse came via Jared Bromberg, who had one.

The Junior Bulldogs did not rack up many penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. Chicago fell short of the 30.0 minutes average penalties per game. The Junior Bulldogs were held below their usual level of production. Chicago puts an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. The Junior Bulldogs managed to hold La Crosse's power play largely in check, allowing only one goal while on the disadvantage. The Freeze were unable to stop Chicago from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Bulldogs eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

La Crosse incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Chicago's Pierce stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced.
