Toledo's McGee deadly on offense in 5-1 win against Cincinnati

Mark McGee had two goals to lead the Toledo Cherokee to a 5-1 victory over the Cincinnati Swords.

McGee scored on the power play at 5:29 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Toledo and again while 39 seconds into the third to make the score 6-0 Toledo.

Toledo's penalty kill excelled, as the Cherokee gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Cincinnati was unable to stop Toledo from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cherokee eventually piled up 50 shots on goal. Toledo could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 36 minutes in penalties during the game.

Toledo also got points from Austin Turner, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Cody Estrel, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Toledo also got a goal from Aaron Roschinsky as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were Kyler Omey, who had one and Dominic Pisanti, Tyler Zalecki, and Zach Swanson, who contributed two each.

The Swords' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Cincinnati finished with 44 penalty minutes.

Glen Bates made 23 saves for the Cherokee on 24 shots. Toledo registered two goals on five power play opportunities. James Schroeder rejected 45 shots on goal for the Swords.
