Black's big game bests Cleveland in 5-0 Pittsburgh win

The Pittsburgh Vengeance's Cody Black had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 5-0 win over the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks.

Black found the back of the net 16:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pittsburgh and again while 13:44 into the second to make the score 2-0 Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh was boosted by Brian Baker, who turned in a shutout with 29 saves. Baker certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.33 entering the contest.

The Vengeance's defense was surprisingly good. Pittsburgh allows 2.7 goals per game. Cleveland was unable to stop the Vengeance from sending pucks towards the net, and Pittsburgh eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Pittsburgh also got points from Parker Henry, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Nils Markgren, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Eli Lynn, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Brooks Antill, Leo Blore, Gavin Cummings, Tyler Speis, and Kenneth White, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Lumberjacks managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Cleveland finished below its season average of 11.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Vengeance incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Sam Pikus recorded 28 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
