Metro survives Pittsburgh comeback, wins 5-4

The Pittsburgh Vengeance tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Metro Jets held on for a 5-4 victory.

A goal by Zachary Koonce put Metro up 4-1 in the second period, but Pittsburgh pulled to within one on Parker Henry's tally 14:18 into the third period.

The Jets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Metro was led by Kevin Shand, who had three goals. In addition, Metro received assists from Jake Stephan, David Chavis, Cooper McLean, Pearce Vance, Tyler Layle, Cody Jones, TJ Krajewski, and Matt Dempsey, who each chipped in one.

The Vengeance were helped by Robert Ferrari, who grabbed one goal. Ferrari scored 13:18 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Metro. Tyler Speis provided the assist. Pittsburgh also got points from Cody Black, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Henry, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Pittsburgh also got a goal from Michael Straub as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Nathaniel Schwartz, who had one.

Stephan rejected 18 shots on goal for the Jets. Metro incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Brian Baker recorded 15 saves for Pittsburgh. The Vengeance incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
