Great Falls holds on for 4-3 win against Billings

The Billings Bulls tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Great Falls Americans held on for a 4-3 victory.

A goal by Miles Giorgione put Great Falls up 4-2 in the third period, but Billings pulled to within one on Tristan Henrichs's tally 16:53 into the third period.

Giorgione was all over the ice for the Americans, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Giorgione scored on the power play 14:42 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Great Falls. Great Falls had taken the advantage when the Bulls' Reed Kaiser got sent off for boarding. Dylan Garton picked up the assist.

The Americans did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Great Falls averages 6.3 goals per game. The Americans kept Billings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexander Meagher made 37 saves on 41 shots. The defensemen of Great Falls were also effective in the Bulls' zone, and came away with two goals.

Great Falls also got points from Wade Wylie, who also registered two goals and one assist. Connor Barta also scored for Great Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Great Falls were Marvin Simmons, who had one.

Billings was often in penalty trouble, totaling 13 minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 24.0 minutes per game the Bulls had been spending in the box.

Billings was led by Ian Wiljanen, who tallied one goal and one assist. Wiljanen scored 19:59 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Billings. Alex Lundstrom provided the assist. Billings also got a goal from Cameron Birklid as well. More assists for Billings came via Ian Eshbaugh, Nick Rizzo, and TJ Theodosopoulos, who contributed one each.

Lauren Massie made 26 saves for the Americans on 29 shots. Great Falls incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. The Bulls registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. For Billings, Kaiser was ejected from the game.
