Pittsburgh wins tough contest against Metro, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Pittsburgh Vengeance escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Metro Jets.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Eli Lynn's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Pittsburgh was led by Lynn, who grabbed one goal. Lynn scored 11:26 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pittsburgh. Tyler Speis assisted on the tally.

Pittsburgh also got points from Nils Markgren, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Pittsburgh included Michael Straub and Robert Ferrari, who each put in one. More assists for Pittsburgh came via Cody Black, Parker Henry, and Gavin Cummings, who contributed one each.

Metro managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Jets wound up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game.

Metro was helped by Zachary Koonce, who registered one goal. Koonce scored 5:37 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Matt Dempsey picked up the assist. Devin Kelly also scored for Metro. In addition, Metro received assists from Kyle Shreve, who had one.

Brian Baker recorded 26 saves for the Vengeance. Pittsburgh avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of one power plays. The Jets' Jake Stephan stopped 19 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Metro registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
