Bozeman stifles Yellowstone's comeback, gains 5-3 victory

The Bozeman Icedogs came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Yellowstone Quake, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory.

Bozeman led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Icedogs' Gunnar Mogck scored on the power play at 12:18 in the second period to put Bozeman up 4-1.

Mogck was all over the ice for the Icedogs, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Mogck scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 29 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Bozeman. Ryan Erickson provided the assist. Mogck's next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 Bozeman with 7:42 left in the second period. Bozeman had taken the advantage when Yellowstone's John Scherer got sent off for roughing. Coleton Anderson picked up the assist.

The Icedogs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.

The Quake were unable to stop Bozeman from sending pucks towards the net, and the Icedogs eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Bozeman also got points from Anderson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Bozeman included Kevin Steffey and Cole Blatter, who scored one goal each. In addition, Bozeman received assists from Kenny Myers and Kegan Couture, who contributed one each.

Yellowstone kept Bozeman's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sal Lauretta made 42 saves on 45 shots.

The Quake were helped by Max Doner, who tallied one goal. Doner scored on the power play 16:10 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Bozeman. Yellowstone had gained a power play chance when Tyler Sands was whistled for roughing. Josh Neumann provided the assist. Yellowstone additionally got points from Neumann, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Yellowstone also got a goal from Mike Evans as well. More assists for Yellowstone came via Nick Pizzey and Zach Schairer, who each chipped in one.

The Icedogs registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Lance Knudson rejected 29 shots on goal for the Quake. Yellowstone incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
