Breezy Point penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of MinnesotaBreezy Point Ice Arena Sat, Sep 20, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Minnesota Flying Aces failed to take advantage of their power play opportunities and the Breezy Point North Stars shook off a number of penalties to win, 5-2. Breezy Point was led by Blake Neumann, who racked up one goal and one assist. Neumann scored on the power play 16:59 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Breezy Point. The North Stars had gained a power play chance when Lucas Mickelson was whistled for slashing. Ryan Herbert picked up the assist. Breezy Point put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Minnesota to score on any of its six power plays. The North Stars forced the Flying Aces goalie Jaxson Gosnell to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Others who scored for Breezy Point included Alex Mimmack, Tyler Larwood, Felix Conrads, and Nolan Magsamen, who scored one goal each. In addition, Breezy Point received assists from Crosby Steen, Ryan Dunner, Austin Weber, and Jordan Carey, who each chipped in one. Minnesota was led by Jack Anderholm, who tallied one goal and one assist. Anderholm scored 7:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Lucas Mutschelknaus provided the assist. Minnesota also got a goal from AJ Gullickson as well. More assists for Minnesota came via Isak Larson and Victor Lombardi, who contributed one each. Dakota McDonald recorded 26 saves for Breezy Point. The North Stars incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Gosnell rejected 27 shots on goal for the Flying Aces. Minnesota incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
