Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Nashville Jr. Predators defeated the Topeka Capitals in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Topeka's shootout goal was scored by Dylan Wattles. In addition to the clincher, Nashville got a shootout goal from Kyle Van Wyk.

The Jr. Predators saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. Nashville made the score 3-1 on a goal by Trent Kulczyk at 7:53 in the third period. The Capitals evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Hank Roers at 15:19 in the third period.

Kulczyk had two goals to lead the Jr. Predators to victory.

Nashville's offense operated below its season average. The Jr. Predators average 6.3 goals per game. Nashville forced Topeka goalie Bailey Aust to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Nashville also got a goal from Van Wyk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Nashville were Jacob Lainesse, who had two and Rudolfs Kalvitis, Nickolas Tandeski, Jacob Elrod, and Nicholas Redmon, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Predators were unable to stop the Capitals from sending pucks towards the net, and Topeka eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Topeka also had goals scored by Colton Sprenger and Alex Sauer, who each put in one. In addition, Topeka received assists from Steve MacIver, Wattles, and Jaydn Munnelly, who each chipped in one.

Nashville's Justin Ball stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Jr. Predators incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Aust recorded 27 saves for the Capitals. Topeka incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
