Cornwall uses shootout to best Kemptville, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cornwall Colts defeated the Kemptville 73s in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for five attempts between the teams.

Cornwall forced Kemptville's netminders to work in net, launching 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Nicholas Hodgins made 19 stops and Jacob Tugnutt made eight.

The Colts were helped by Parker Krol, who grabbed one goal. Krol scored 7:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Matthew Morin assisted on the tally. Cornwall also got points from Tanner Spink, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cornwall also had goals scored by Tristan Conrad and Tristen Elie, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Keegan Mulhearn, Marly Quince, Peter Angelopoulos, Ryan Patulli, and Kevin Hope, who each chipped in one.

The 73s forced Cornwall goalie Denny Dubblestyne to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Kemptville was helped by Matt Tugnutt, who had one goal. Tugnutt scored 14:46 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Alex Row picked up the assist. Kemptville additionally got points from Erik Brown, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Kemptville included Shane Riddell and Cameron Russell, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Quinn Wichers, Owen Guy, Dean Galasso, Shawn Cameron, and Justin Haasbeek, who contributed one each.

Dubblestyne recorded 36 saves for the Colts. Cornwall incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities. The 73s incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
