GAME RECAP

King nets hat trick, leads Brockville to 7-3 win over Kanata

Brockville Memorial Centre    Fri, Feb 27, 2015

The Kanata Lasers could not stop the Brockville Braves' Sean King, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-3 win.

King notched his first tally 4:03 into the second period. He then added goals at 13:54 into the second and at 9:42 into the third.

Brockville's penalty kill excelled, as the Braves gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Brockville forced Lasers' goaltenders to work all game long, launching 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Brian Wilson made 11 stops and Andrew Cipollone made 18. The Braves surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Brockville averages 3.5 goals per game.

Brockville also had goals scored by Brett Van Stralen, Jack Gill, Dylan McCrory, and Andrew Peski, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Ethan Weiss, Neil Robinson, Tre Folkes, Blake Carrick, Andrew Jarvis, and Tristan Whynot, who each chipped in one and Liam Folkes and DAndre John, who contributed two each.

Kanata stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brockville was unable to stop the Lasers from sending pucks towards the net, and Kanata eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

The Lasers were led by Cameron Radziwon, who had two goals. Radziwon scored the first of his two goals at 59 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kanata. Joey Laird assisted on the tally. Radziwon's next tally made the score 5-3 Brockville with five seconds left in the second period. Kanata had gotten the advantage when the Braves' King was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Laird picked up the assist. Kanata also got a goal from Rowan Savidant as well. In addition, Kanata received assists from Ian Johnston, who had one and Louis-Charles Croteau, who had two.

Brockville's Mitchell Datz stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Braves incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Lasers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
