Pembroke outlasts Kanata, 4-3

The game between the Pembroke Lumber Kings and the Kanata Lasers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Pembroke emerged with a 4-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Anthony Nellis secured the win for the Lumber Kings with a goal in the third period.

Stephen Cooney had a great game for Pembroke, netting two goals. Cooney scored at 6:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke and again while 6:19 into the second to make the score 3-2 Pembroke.

The Lumber Kings forced Kanata's goaltenders to work in net, firing 48 shots and forcing 44 saves. Patrick Kealey made 42 stops and Andrew Cipollone made two. Pembroke excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Pembroke also got points from Ryan Casselman, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Sean Green, Colton Keuhl, and Adam Beveridge, who each chipped in one and Brendan Valko and Owen McDade, who contributed two each.

The Lasers stifled the Lumber Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Kanata was helped by Ethan MacLean, who tallied one goal. MacLean scored 9:52 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. Arik Breton provided the assist. Kanata additionally got points from Ian Johnston, who also had one goal and one assist. Kanata also got a goal from Bryce Biller as well. More assists for Kanata came via Tyler ONeill, who had two and Louis-Charles Croteau and Nicholas Graveline, who each chipped in one.

Sean Green made 20 saves for Pembroke on 23 shots. The Lumber Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For Pembroke, Felix Chamberland was ejected from the game. The Lasers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
