Gloucester uses early goal to top Hawkesbury, 3-2

The Gloucester Rangers took the lead against the Hawkesbury Hawks in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-2 victory.

Gloucester took over the lead for good with a goal by Max Veronneau at 18:45 in the first period. Bobby Williams picked up the assist.

Veronneau was all over the ice for the Rangers, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Veronneau scored the first of his two goals at 5:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester. Ryan Kuffner assisted on the tally. Veronneau's next tally made the score 2-1 Gloucester with 1:15 left in the first period. Williams picked up the assist.

Matt Foget also scored for Gloucester. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Zachary Borsoi and Nicholas Ngwafusi, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury kept Gloucester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Doug Johnston made 32 saves on 34 shots.

The Hawks were helped by Jason Brochu, who grabbed one goal. Brochu scored 5:44 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Gloucester. Chris Harper assisted on the tally. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Damien Charette as well. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Ross Mandigo and Jonathan Tecce, who contributed one each.

The Rangers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Gunner Rivers made 26 saves for Hawkesbury on 29 shots. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
