Kemptville survives Brockville comeback, wins 3-1

The Brockville Braves tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Kemptville 73s held on for a 3-1 victory.

A goal by Erik Brown put Kemptville up 3-0 in the third period, but Brockville pulled to within two on Liam Folkes's tally 6:01 into the third period.

The Braves were stymied by the 73s' netminder Nicholas Hodgins, who stopped 38 shots during the victory. Hodgins managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.02 prior to the game.

Kemptville excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Brockville was unable to stop the 73s from sending pucks towards the net, and Kemptville eventually piled up 50 shots on goal.

The 73s were helped by Owen Guy, who had one goal. Guy scored 15:54 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kemptville. Brown picked up the assist. Kemptville additionally got points from Brown, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kemptville also got a goal from Jake Gaudet as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Cody Hendsbee, Brandon Lesway, Dean Galasso, and Jason Tackett, who each chipped in one.

The Braves stifled Kemptville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brockville's offense operated below its season average. The Braves put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Brockville forced the 73s goalie Hodgins to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

More assists for Brockville came via Tre Folkes, who had one.
