Kemptville hangs on, beats Cornwall 4-2North Grenville Municipal 1 Fri, Jan 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Jake Gaudet gave the Kemptville 73s the lead in the first period, and the Cornwall Colts was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2. Kemptville took over the lead for good with a goal by Gaudet at 3:30 in the first period. Brandon Lesway picked up the assist.Gaudet had a great game for the 73s, netting two goals. Kemptville forced Cornwall goalie Brett Nichol to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots. Kemptville also got points from Erik Brown, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Kemptville also got a goal from Owen Guy as well. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Dean Galasso, Matt Tugnutt, Alex Row, Shawn Cameron, Tyler Young, and Jacob Tugnutt, who contributed one each. The Colts kept the 73s' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tugnutt made 32 saves on 34 shots. Cornwall was led by Grant Cooper, who racked up one goal and one assist. Cooper scored on the power play 6:52 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Kemptville. The Colts had gotten the advantage when Kemptville's Lesway was sent off for tripping. Marly Quince assisted on the tally. Ross Craig also scored for Cornwall. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Zac Tierney, who had one. The 73s incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cornwall's Nichol stopped 40 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Colts incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
