Pembroke uses big second period to beat Brockville, 6-2

The Brockville Braves was within striking distance after one period, but the Pembroke Lumber Kings put the pedal down in the second en route to a 6-2 victory.

Pembroke got the win thanks to a great game by Alexandre Boivin, who had two goals and one assist. Boivin scored the first of his two goals at 17:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke. Felix Chamberland picked up the assist. Boivin's next tally made the score 6-2 Pembroke with 2:11 left in the third period. Hudson Michaelis assisted on the tally.

Brockville's power play was ineffective against the Lumber Kings' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Pembroke forced Braves' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. Mitchell Datz made 26 stops and Bo Taylor made five. The Lumber Kings stifled the Braves' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pembroke struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 20 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

Pembroke additionally got points from Chamberland, who also registered one goal and two assists and Adam Dauda, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Brendan Valko also scored for Pembroke. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Anthony Nellis, who had two and Brett du Puy, Dylan Chase, Jesse Blais, Stephen Cooney, and Adam Beveridge, who each chipped in one.

Jordan Piccolino made 24 saves for the Lumber Kings on 26 shots. Pembroke registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Brockville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
