Ottawa beats Brockville 5-2 as Pearson gets hat trick

The Brockville Braves could not stop the Ottawa Senators' Jim Pearson, who tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win.

Pearson notched his first tally 16:03 into the second period. He then added goals at 19:01 into the second and at 5:06 into the third.

Ottawa's penalty kill excelled, as the Senators gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Others who scored for Ottawa included Daniel Sarracco and Carl Faucher, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Robert Michel, who had two and Matthew Cruickshank, Alexandre Way, Bruno Cheff, Joey Champigny, and Cody Bean, who contributed one each.

Brockville's offense rang up 35 shots on Ottawa's net.

The Braves were helped by Neil Robinson, who had one goal. Robinson scored 3:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brockville. Dante Suffredini provided the assist. Brockville also got a goal from Eric Israel as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Mitchell Datz and Jack Billings, who each chipped in one.

Alexandre Savard-Belanger recorded 33 saves for the Senators. Ottawa incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Brockville's Datz stopped 18 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Braves incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
