Nepean vanquishes Kanata in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Nepean Raiders defeated the Kanata Stallions in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for eight attempts between the teams.

Nepean saw a two-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Raiders made the score 3-1 on a power play goal by Broydon Stufko at 7:07 in the third period. Kanata evened things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Ethan MacLean at 18:54 in the third period.

The Stallions were unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Nepean was helped by Mac MacSorley, who finished with one goal and one assist. MacSorley scored 34 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Nepean. Stufko assisted on the tally. Nepean additionally got points from Stufko, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Felix Page also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Chad Malinowski, Luke McCaw, Jack Kilrea, and Brandon Belding, who each chipped in one.

Kanata's offense rang up 35 shots on the Raiders' net.

The Stallions were helped by Joey Laird, who tallied one goal. Laird scored on the power play 17:48 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Nepean. Kanata had gained a power play chance when Belding was whistled for tripping. Tyler ONeill provided the assist. Kanata also got points from MacLean, who also registered one goal and one assist. Kanata also got a goal from Ian Johnston as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Rowan Savidant and Dylan Mascarin, who contributed one each.

Francis Marotte rejected 32 shots on goal for Nepean. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Andrew Cipollone made 30 saves for the Stallions on 33 shots. Kanata incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
