Pembroke blows out Kanata, 6-1

The Pembroke Lumber Kings had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Kanata Stallions.

Felix Chamberland had two goals and one assist to lead Pembroke. Chamberland scored the first of his two goals at 19:49 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke. Adam Beveridge assisted on the tally. Chamberland's next tally made the score 4-0 Pembroke with 3:26 left in the second period. Stephan Beauvais picked up the assist.

Kanata's power play was ineffective against the Lumber Kings' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 4:38 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Pembroke racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and three majors for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Lumber Kings surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Pembroke stifled the Stallions' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Kanata was unable to stop the Lumber Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Pembroke eventually piled up 57 shots on goal.

Pembroke additionally got points from Beveridge, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Pembroke also had goals scored by Chris Minns, Adam Dauda, and Owen McDade, who scored one goal each. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Alexandre Boivin, who had three and Colton Keuhl, Jesse Blais, Hudson Michaelis, Ryan Casselman, and Anthony Nellis, who contributed one each.

Joel Horodziejczyk made 19 saves for the Lumber Kings on 20 shots. Pembroke registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Team's Keuhl, McDade, and Beauvais were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Brian Wilson recorded 51 saves for the Stallions. Kanata ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors. For the Stallions, Johnny Kyte, Cameron Radziwon, and Mike Tropea were ejected from the contest.
