Carleton Place survives Smiths Falls comeback, wins 4-2

The Carleton Place Canadians came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Smiths Falls Bears, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Carleton Place led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Canadians' Stephen Baylis scored at 8:36 in the second period to put Carleton Place up 4-1.

The Canadians pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Carleton Place was sparked by Jordan Larson, who tallied one goal. Larson scored 5:00 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Carleton Place. Willie Brooks provided the assist.

The Canadians kept Smiths Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cole Skinner made 27 saves on 31 shots.

Carleton Place also got points from Andy Sturtz, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Carleton Place also got a goal from Bryce VanHorn as well. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Devin Campbell, Wesley Baker, and Adam Lloyd, who each chipped in one.

The Bears were led by Nicolas Coates, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Coates scored short handed 4:06 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A roughing call on Chase Hawley put Smiths Falls on the penalty kill. Taylor Henry also scored for Smiths Falls. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Daniel Lombardi, who had one.

Guillaume Therien rejected 24 shots on goal for Carleton Place. The Canadians registered one goal on two power play opportunities. The Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
