Smiths Falls holds on for 3-2 win against NepeanSmiths Falls Memorial Centre Fri, Nov 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Smiths Falls Bears held on for a 3-2 victory. Smiths Falls took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Nepean storm back on a Mac MacSorley goal 16:55 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Raiders' power play was ineffective against the Bears' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Smiths Falls was helped by Chase Hawley, who finished with one goal. Hawley scored 1:46 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Smiths Falls. Michael McKenney picked up the assist. Others who scored for Smiths Falls included Nicolas Coates and Brody Brunet, who each put in one. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Ryan Duhaime, Chris MacMillan, Josh Leblanc, Darius Gibson, and Karson McCartney, who each chipped in one. Nepean put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bears to score on any of their three power plays. Nepean also got a goal from William White as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Chad Malinowski, Felix Page, Devin Fullum, and Dakota Ford, who contributed one each. Michael Pinios rejected 24 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Francis Marotte made 24 saves for the Raiders on 27 shots. Nepean incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
