Cumberland beats Nepean 3-0 as Gollmer gains shutout

Kevin Gollmer was superb between the pipes for the Cumberland Grads, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Nepean Raiders.

Cumberland was led by Travis Douglas, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Douglas scored 19:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland. Joey Sollazzo assisted on the tally.

The Grads forced Nepean goalie Daniel Urbani to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Others who scored for Cumberland included Matthew Morin and Maxime St.Pierre, who each put in one. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Etienne Vivash, Reid Murphy, Brandon Zullo, and Brett Faber, who contributed one each.

The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Nepean did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Raiders average 3.0 goals per game. Cumberland was unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Gollmer rejected 31 shots on goal for the Grads. Cumberland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Urbani recorded 37 saves for Nepean. The Raiders totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For Nepean, Jody Sullivan was ejected from the game.
