Cornwall rolls over Gloucester, 5-2

The Cornwall Colts were firing on all cylinders against the Gloucester Rangers, and when the final buzzer sounded Colts emerged with a 5-2 win.

Cornwall got the win behind a great game by Peter Angelopoulos, who had one goal and two assists. Angelopoulos scored 15:18 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. Ross Craig assisted on the tally.

The Colts stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Cornwall additionally got points from Marly Quince, who also registered two goals and one assist and Lawson MacDougall, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Tristan Conrad also scored for Cornwall. More assists for Cornwall came via Tristen Elie, Juan-Diego Hernandez, and Zac Tierney, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Gloucester ended up below its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Cornwall was unable to stop the Rangers from sending pucks towards the net, and Gloucester eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

The Rangers were helped by Jaren Burke, who had one goal. Burke scored 12:12 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Vincent Guimond picked up the assist. Gloucester also got points from Guimond, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Lucas Zwaagstra, who had one and Cameron Hughes, who had two.

Brett Nichol made 40 saves for the Colts on 42 shots. Cornwall incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Gloucester's David Richer stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Rangers registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
