Huge game by Kuffner boosts Gloucester over Hawkesbury, 5-1Earl Armstrong Arena Sun, Oct 26, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Gloucester Rangers' Ryan Kuffner had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 5-1 win over the Hawkesbury Hawks. Kuffner scored on the power play at 13:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester and again while 16:04 into the first to make the score 2-0 Gloucester.Gloucester was led by goalie Doug Johnston, who finished with 39 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Johnston will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.87. The Rangers forced Hawkesbury's goalies to work in net, taking 36 shots and forcing 31 saves. CJ Sharp made 15 stops and Gunner Rivers made 16. Gloucester excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. The Rangers were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. Gloucester additionally got points from Matt Foget, who also registered one goal and two assists and Joey Fallon, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Antonio Micucci also scored for Gloucester. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Alex Bilodeau, Dorian Dawson, Chris Morgan, Max Veronneau, and Antoine Paradis, who each chipped in one. The Hawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Hawkesbury averages 3.1 goals per game. Gloucester was unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hawkesbury eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Hawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 21 penalty minutes. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Tristan Perreault-Gagnon as well. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Marc-Antoine Bourbonnais, who had one. The Rangers registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Gloucester ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dawson was ejected from the game. For Hawkesbury, Hunter Racine was ejected from the game. |
