Veronneau's big game bests Nepean in 7-4 Gloucester win

The Gloucester Rangers' Max Veronneau had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 7-4 win over the Nepean Raiders.

Veronneau found the back of the net on the power play 8:31 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester and again while 9:41 into the third to make the score 5-4 Gloucester.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:36 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Gloucester kept Nepean's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Urbani made 26 saves on 33 shots. The Rangers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Gloucester has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Gloucester also got points from Ryan Kuffner, who also tallied three goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Gloucester included Joey Fallon and Lucas Zwaagstra, who scored one goal each. More assists for Gloucester came via Adam Beveridge, who had two, Matt Foget, who had three, and Alex Bilodeau, Antoine Paradis, and Vincent Guimond, who contributed one each.

The Raiders forced the Rangers goalie David Richer to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Nepean was helped by Broydon Stufko, who registered two goals. Stufko scored the first of his two goals at 9:38 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Gloucester. Rory Garlasco provided the assist. Stufko's next tally made the score 3-2 Gloucester with 7:51 left in the second period. Felix Page picked up the assist. Nepean additionally got points from Page, who also had one goal and one assist. Josh Zizek also scored for Nepean. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Chad Malinowski, Cameron Cook, Brandon Watt, Shane Riddell, Brandon Belding, and Mac MacSorley, who each chipped in one.

Gloucester's Richer stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Rangers totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Gloucester ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dominic Rovero was ejected from the game. The Raiders totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Nepean, Jody Sullivan was ejected from the game.
