Brockville wins tough contest against Cumberland, 4-3Navan Memorial Centre Sun, Oct 19, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Brockville Braves escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Cumberland Grads. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jack Patterson at 16:05 of the third period. Brockville was led by Patterson, who registered one goal. The Braves excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals. Brockville also got points from Eric Israel, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Brockville also had goals scored by Charles Bilodeau and Andrew Peski, who scored one goal each. In addition, Brockville received assists from Ethan Weiss, who had two and Jack Billings and Michael Murray, who each chipped in one. Cumberland kept Brockville's goalie busy throughout the game, and David Poirier made 31 saves on 34 shots. The Grads were helped by Ted McCabe, who racked up one goal. McCabe scored 12:33 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Martin Frechette provided the assist. Others who scored for Cumberland included Reid Murphy and Brandon Zullo, who each put in one. More assists for Cumberland came via Travis Douglas, Thomas Mansbridge, Matthew Morin, Riley Hennigar, and Joey Sollazzo, who contributed one each. The Braves incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Paul Leger made 16 saves for Cumberland on 20 shots. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
