Huge game by Sturtz boosts Carleton Place over Kemptville, 6-1

Andy Sturtz had one goal and two assists to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 6-1 victory over the Kemptville 73s.

Sturtz got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 3:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Carleton Place had gotten the advantage when Kemptville's Quinn Wichers was sent off for roughing. Craig Pefley assisted on the tally. Sturtz dished an assist on Jordan Larson's goal that made the score 4-0 Carleton Place at 7:47 into the second period. He added another helper on Connor Merkley's goal that made the score 6-0 Carleton Place at 16:16 into the second period.

The Canadians' penalty kill excelled, as Carleton Place gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The 73s were unable to stop the Canadians from sending pucks towards the net, and Carleton Place eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. The Canadians' goal total was higher than their season average. Carleton Place has scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Carleton Place also got points from Tyson Stewart, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Bryce VanHorn, who also had one goal and one assist, and Larson, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Carleton Place also got a goal from Wesley Baker as well. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Willie Brooks, Adam Lloyd, and Trent Shore, who each chipped in one.

Kemptville was held below its usual level of production. The 73s average 3.3 goals per game.

Guillaume Therien made 23 saves for the Canadians on 24 shots. Carleton Place incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Canadians, Stephen Baylis was ejected from the game. Jacob Tugnutt rejected 33 shots on goal for Kemptville. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
