Baylis' hat trick boosts Carleton Place over Kemptville, 7-0

A hat trick by Stephen Baylis was the highlight in Canadians' 7-0 win against the Kemptville 73s.

Baylis' first goal came 10:50 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:21 into the second and at 15:13 into the third.

The Carleton Place Canadians were boosted by Guillaume Therien, who turned in a shutout with 37 saves. Therien certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.06 entering the contest.

Carleton Place stifled Kemptville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Canadians was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Carleton Place gives up 2.1 goals on average per game. The Canadians kept the 73s' goalie busy throughout the game, and Nicholas Hodgins made 32 saves on 39 shots. Carleton Place outdid its season average for goals scored. The Canadians have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign.

Carleton Place also got points from Jordan Larson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Craig Pefley, who also finished with two goals and two assists. Carleton Place also got a goal from Tyson Stewart as well. More assists for Carleton Place came via Andy Sturtz, who had two, Willie Brooks, who had three, and Alex Robinson, Adam Lloyd, and Andrew Dodson, who contributed one each.

Kemptville was held below its usual level of production. The 73s put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game. Kemptville forced Carleton Place goalie Therien to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The 73s struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Canadians to score five power play goals on eight chances.

Carleton Place incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Kemptville incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. For the 73s, Cody Hendsbee was ejected from the game.
