Jason Brochu scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Hawkesbury Hawks held off the challenges of the Carleton Place Canadians in a tough 4-2 win. A goal 2:37 into the first period by Brochu proved to be the game winner, and powered Hawkesbury to the victory. A ineligible player penalty on Bryce VanHorn had put the Hawks on the power play. Phil Johansson picked up the assist.Hawkesbury was led by Ross Mandigo, who finished with one goal. Mandigo scored on the power play 16 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Hawkesbury. Johansson assisted on the tally. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 2:42 into the second period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with four game misconducts. The Hawks forced Carleton Place goalie Adrian Clark to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Hawkesbury additionally got points from Rory Gagnon, who also registered one goal and one assist and CJ Stubbs, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Damien Charette and Hunter Racine, who each chipped in one. The Canadians' penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. Carleton Place surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Canadians were helped by Andrew Dodson, who had one goal. Dodson scored 10:28 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Hawkesbury. Tyson Stewart provided the assist. Andy Sturtz also scored for Carleton Place. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Willie Brooks, Adam Lloyd, and Craig Pefley, who contributed one each. Hawkesbury's Gunner Rivers stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Hawks totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Hawkesbury ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nicholas Centauro was ejected from the game. Adrian Clark made 28 saves for Carleton Place on 32 shots. The Canadians registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Carleton Place, Stephen Baylis was ejected from the game.
