Therien leads Carleton Place to shutout victory over KanataCarleton Place Arena Fri, Sep 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Guillaume Therien was superb between the pipes for the Carleton Place Canadians, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Kanata Stallions. Carleton Place was led by Craig Pefley, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Pefley scored 19:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Tyson Stewart picked up the assist. The Canadians excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Carleton Place forced Kanata goalie Cole Skinner to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Carleton Place also had goals scored by Willie Brooks and Bryce VanHorn, who scored one goal each. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Devin Campbell, Andy Sturtz, and Connor Merkley, who each chipped in one. The Stallions were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 18 penalty minutes. Therien recorded 25 saves for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Kanata's Skinner stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. The Stallions ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Rowan Savidant was ejected from the game.
