Pembroke rips Gloucester, 5-2

The Pembroke Lumber Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Gloucester Rangers, and when the final buzzer sounded Lumber Kings emerged with a 5-2 win.

Pembroke pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 28 penalty minutes.

The Lumber Kings were led by Adam Dauda, who registered one goal. Dauda scored 6:41 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pembroke. Anthony Nellis picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 12:27 into the second period. Three fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Pembroke's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Gloucester power plays. The Lumber Kings forced Gloucester goalie David Richer to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Pembroke also got points from Ryan Casselman, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Pembroke also had goals scored by Colton Keuhl, Felix Chamberland, and Brett Horn, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pembroke came via Jason Tackett, who had two and Hudson Michaelis, Cale List, and Stephan Beauvais, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. Gloucester had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Pembroke was unable to stop the Rangers from sending pucks towards the net, and Gloucester eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Rangers were helped by Matt Foget, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Foget scored 9:14 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jared Leslie assisted on the tally. Gloucester additionally got points from Ryan Kuffner, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Chris Morgan, who had one.

Sean Green rejected 33 shots on goal for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. For the Lumber Kings, Michaelis and Beauvais were ejected from the contest. Gloucester's Richer stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Team's Branden Makara and Cameron Hughes were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
