Gloucester survives Ottawa comeback, wins 4-3

The Ottawa Senators tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Gloucester Rangers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Gloucester made the score 4-1 on a goal by Jared Leslie at 19:45 in the second period, and Ottawa got as close as 4-3 when Geoffrey Lawson scored 12:56 into the third period.

The Rangers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Senators to score on any of their five power plays.

Gloucester was helped by Adam Beveridge, who registered one goal. Beveridge scored on the power play 12:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester. The Rangers had taken the advantage when Ottawa's Carl Faucher got sent off for tripping. Matt Adams provided the assist. Others who scored for Gloucester included Joey Fallon and Lucas Zwaagstra, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Zackhary Salloum, Cameron Hughes, Ryan Kuffner, and Matt Foget, who each chipped in one.

Gloucester was unable to stop the Senators from sending pucks towards the net, and Ottawa eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Ottawa also had goals scored by Robert Michel and Matthew Cruickshank, who scored one goal each. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Joey Champigny, Zacharie Car, and Cody Bean, who contributed one each.

David Richer made 36 saves for the Rangers on 39 shots. Gloucester incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Senators' starting goalie, Alexandre Savard-Belanger, made eight saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Ian Andriano, who stopped six shots. Ottawa incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
