Kemptville erases deficit to stun Cumberland, 3-2

The Kemptville 73s rallied from two goals down to secure a 3-2 win over the Cumberland Grads.

Kemptville never led in the game until netting the game winner. The 73s fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Cumberland's Cody Kyle at 4:59 in the second period. Kemptville tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Quinn Wichers at 8:29 in the third period. The 73s scored the game winner on the power play at 13:39 in the third period on a goal by Wichers.

Justin Haasbeek had two goals to lead Kemptville to victory.

The 73s put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Grads to score on any of their five power plays. Kemptville kept Cumberland's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kevin Gollmer made 33 saves on 36 shots.

More assists for Kemptville came via Kaelan OFlynn, Aaron Hickie, Owen Guy, Jesse Blais, and Matt Tugnutt, who contributed one each.

Matthew Morin also scored for Cumberland. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Matt Meininger, Thomas Mansbridge, and Peter Sigouin, who each chipped in one.

Jacob Tugnutt recorded 21 saves for the 73s. Kemptville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Grads incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
