Brockville wins tough contest against Gloucester, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Brockville Braves escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Gloucester Rangers.

Brockville gained the winning advantage on a goal by Blake Carrick 5:00 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Braves' penalty kill excelled, as Brockville gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

The Braves were led by Carrick, who had one goal.

Brockville forced Gloucester goalie Doug Johnston to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Braves could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for Brockville included Jack Billings and Sean King, who each put in one. In addition, Brockville received assists from Landon Gareau, Brett Van Stralen, Charles Bilodeau, Tre Folkes, and Andrew Peski, who contributed one each.

The Rangers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Gloucester was helped by Zackhary Salloum, who racked up one goal. Salloum scored on the power play 14:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester. A boarding penalty on dAndre John had put the Rangers on the power play. Ryan Kuffner assisted on the tally. Gloucester also got a goal from Matt Foget as well. More assists for Gloucester came via Joey Fallon, who had two.

David Poirier rejected 15 shots on goal for Brockville. The Braves registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Doug Johnston made 34 saves for Gloucester on 37 shots.
