Douglas' big game bests Smiths Falls in 4-1 Cumberland win

Travis Douglas was all over the ice for the Cumberland Grads, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Cumberland's 4-1 win over the Smiths Falls Bears.

Douglas found the back of the net on the power play 5:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cumberland and again while on the power play 11:39 into the first to make the score 2-0 Cumberland.

The Grads were led by goalie Kevin Gollmer, who finished with 40 saves while allowing one goal. Gollmer certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.02 entering the contest.

Cumberland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Grads forced Smiths Falls goalie Michael Pinios to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Cumberland additionally got points from Matthew Morin, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Maxime St.Pierre as well. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Bobby Williams, who had two and Cameron Roth, Tyler Pancel, Ted McCabe, and Brett Faber, who contributed one each.

The Bears' offense rang up 41 shots on Cumberland's net. Smiths Falls struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Grads to score three power play goals on four chances.

The Bears were led by Brandon Lesway, who scored the team's only goal. Lesway scored 25 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cumberland. Neil Doef picked up the assist.

Cumberland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pinios recorded 35 saves for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
