Clarington holds on for 5-3 win against Port PerryScugog Memorial Arena Sun, Feb 01, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Port Perry Mojacks tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Clarington Eagles would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3. A goal by Cody Kean put Clarington up 5-1 in the third period, but Port Perry pulled to within two on Ryan Bernardes's tally 15:21 into the third period. The Eagles' penalty kill excelled, as Clarington gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. The Eagles forced the Mojacks' netminders to work in net, taking 41 shots and forcing 36 saves. Blake Shaw made 12 stops and Jeff Julien made 24. Clarington was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of 10 man advantages. Clarington also had goals scored by Brad Down, Dylan Howorko, and Brent Hambly, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Clarington were Jake Carter, Jamie Bennett APM, Jarod Hollister, Braden Gray, and Brodie Myers, who contributed one each. Port Perry kept the Eagles' goalie busy throughout the game, and Connor Visca made 34 saves on 37 shots. The Mojacks' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Port Perry finished with 28 penalty minutes. Others who scored for Port Perry included Graham Lamers and Jeff St. Pierre, who each put in one. In addition, Port Perry received assists from Ryan Nichols, Kyle Powell, Brett Theissen, Liam Schweda, Owen Bateman, and Konrad Piorkowski, who each chipped in one. Clarington incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
