Little Britain rolls over Lakefield, 5-2

The Little Britain Merchants were firing on all cylinders against the Lakefield Chiefs, and when the final buzzer sounded Merchants emerged with a 5-2 win.

Little Britain excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Lakefield was unable to stop the Merchants from sending pucks towards the net, and Little Britain eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Merchants were helped by Kurtis Moore, who finished with two goals and one assist. Moore scored the first of his two goals at 3:48 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Little Britain. Terry Snoddon provided the assist. Moore's next tally made the score 5-2 Little Britain with 12:02 left in the third period. Little Britain also got points from Snoddon, who also registered one goal and one assist, Hayden Long, who also had one goal and one assist, and Brett Doble, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Little Britain came via Brady Martin, who had one.

The Chiefs stifled Little Britain's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lakefield was held below its usual level of production. The Chiefs put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Lakefield forced the Merchants goalie Garrett Haden to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

The Chiefs were helped by Ethan Schott, who grabbed one goal. Schott scored 10:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Lakefield also got a goal from Josh Duggan as well. In addition, Lakefield received assists from Jesse Gregory, who had one.

Haden rejected 35 shots on goal for Little Britain. The Merchants totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-4 on the power play. For Little Britain, Nathan Hughes was ejected from the game. Zach Wainman made 28 saves for Lakefield on 33 shots. The Chiefs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
